love poem in chinese characters;    love poem in chinese characters

Though miles apart, sharing the beauty of the graceful moonlight, we wish long-lasting lover. These two lines come from Dàn yuàn rén chángjiû (May we live long enough), a poem by famous Chinese poet Su Shi in the Song Dynasty. In the 1980s it was adapted into a song rendered by late singer Teng Lijun. So wistful is the song that it will leave you in total silence of appreciation…

Ming yue ji shi you
When was the moon created, in a state so bright?

Ba jiu wen qing tian
Holding a cup of wine, I ask heaven's right.

Bu zhi tian shang gong que
Don’t know now in moon palace

Jin xi shi he nian
What year is it tonight?

Wo yu cheng feng gui qu
Riding the wind I am attempting a flight (to leave this world behind).

Wei kong qiong lou yu yu But in the jade palace on moon,

Gao chu bu sheng han
I worry about the chill from being remote.

Qi wu nong qing ying
Thus I would rather dance under the moonbeam with my shadow,

He si zai ren jian
Where is better than here on earth?

Zhuan zhu ge
Around the red chamber,

Di yi hu
Through the carved window pane,

Zhao wu mian
The moonlight finds me in bed, tossing and turning in vain.

Bu ying you hen
What justifies my complaints?

He shi chang xiang bie shi yuan (yue shi yuan)
With the moon always round and full when people are separated

Ren you bei huan li he
Life is about parting and coming together

Yue you yin qing yuan que
The moon has times when it is not round

Ci shi gu nan quan
It has ever been difficult to manage this

Dan yuan ren chang jiu
Only wishing for eternity

Qian li gong chan juan
No matter how far apart, it is happiness to see the same moon

As said above, the lyrics come from an ancient poem by a famous Chinese poet, Su Shì. The poet is sad, anguished, and drinking, because he is separated from his lover. He contemplates the moon, asking when it is ever clear and round, symbolizing happiness and the reunion of lovers; he consoles himself with the thought that his lover is gazing at the same moon.
